As long as all that what we know
Comes from this earth, from down below
From seeing all as if a show
As it was always, long ago
The truth behind cannot be seen
Unless we fluctuate between
The unseen realm where king and queen
Already live redeemed and clean
And our realm of fallen men
Where king and queen are servants, then
Who share as much love as they can
With men according to His plan
In Heaven we may rule with God
While our bodies here will laud
His goodness and His mercy toward
All mankind through our lovely Lord
Who offered up His very life
For His beloved, for His wife
And for all men fed up with strife
There’s surgery without a knife
The One who died for what went wrong
Has loved us always, all along
And wants us to know we belong
Into His arms since He is strong
To comfort and to set us free
From all lies by the enemy
He gives protection, makes us see
We are His lovers – finally

It took me a few readings of your poem for it to soak in! It is a lot deeper than it first appears! It would seem that God has chosen us from the foundation of His creation to be included in His plan as the Bride of Christ. What a thought!!! BUT how do we “reign” while we are still on this earth? The same way Jesus did… as lowly servants, loving all mankind with HIS great love He has given to us to dwell in. Oh, how often we feel His love moving in us and prompting us to reach out to others that THEY may know that heavenly love as well… that they may also love Him as HE first loved them! As we are ONE in His love with the Father and the Son… THIS is the witness that Father did send Him into this world to love them and lay down His life for them.
Jesus prayed:
“I am in them, and you are in me. May they be completely one, so that the world may know that you sent me and that you have loved them as you loved me. Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am and to see my glory, which you gave me because you loved me before the creation of the world.” (John 17:23-24 ISV)
YES, may we be where you are, Jesus, in every way from now throughout eternity! Amen

A beautiful comment, my dear brother. Reigning through love is a power that is often underestimated, isn’t it… But Christ even told us – through Paul’s voice,
“Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Rom 12:19-21 ESV)
There is saving power in so doing, that is, heaping burning coals on the heads of those who hate us.
Writing about “king and queen” who already live – spiritually speaking – in Heaven, I also thought of reigning through prayer. If we know that God indeed hears our prayers (1 Jn 5:15), don’t we actually “reign” as his priests on earth as well (cf. Is 61:6; Rev 1:6, 5:10)?

Yes, dear Susanne, We DO reign here on earth as priests unto God and prayer for the people is very much a part of that…
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: Who in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.” (1 Peter 2:9-10 KJ2000)
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loves us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And has made us a kingdom and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. (Revelation 1:5-6 KJ2000)
And they sang a new song, saying, You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open the seals thereof: for you were slain, and have redeemed us to God by your blood out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation; And have made us unto our God a kingdom and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. Blessed and holy is he that has part in the first resurrection: on such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

So should we lay down our lives for the brethren in very practical way as His priesthood…
By this perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. It is not a hierarchy we are called to, but it is all about loving service to the Bride of Christ, is it not, because we Love HIM. Love is circular and not self-seeking. He FIRST loves us, then we love Him… He loves His Bride and then we love and serve THEM in a practical way to also show our love for our Lord. It is all about service that is energized and inspired by the love of God.
THIS is the holy priesthood that John speaks of in His letters to the saint and his gospel. I am so glad that we have this privilege of looking into the heart of the disciple whom Jesus loved and being inspired by such as him.

No, the hierarchy is not the point, of course. Only later we will really reign with Him in a kingdom where love, freedom, righteousness, and justice are REAL.
