Taste of Life – Poem by Susanne and Sarah Schuberth

Susanne:

When darkness subsides

And true life abides

Confusion clears up

All delusion is cupped

Where light has come in

His life can begin

The seeds start to grow

As the weeds are set low

Commencing your walk

Not being able to talk

You’re astonished beyond

At how new life is donned

The doors open now

You see heaven somehow

Unfolding on here

While His Majesty’s near

Sarah:

You have set me free

In this tumultuous time

You have become my light

That showed me true sight

Your Spirit’s with me

I can’t lose You again

You stay by my side

Revealing new wide

I walk with You in liberty

Even, for all eternity

Susanne:

We are so grateful that You

Pulled us both close to You

God, You’re so faithful beyond

Through Your Son You respond

To the cries of our hearts

Calming all fear off the charts

You’ve created this bond

As a Shepherd so fond

…we know, we shall not want

Thank YOU!! 😊

How lovely on the mountains are the feet of them who bring good news especially when those feet belong to a mother and daughter.
    😇👍
So many prayers have been heard and answered in your family!

Thank you for your edifying words, Michael. Many prayers have been heard, indeed, my brother.

Thank you so much for your many prayers for me and my family over the years. I have been praying for you and your big family, too.

When the time is right in His sight
All our worries can be set aside

Uh, I’m still in the rhyme mode, as it seems… 🙂

Reblogged this on Entering the Promised Land and commented:

After many years full of struggles, fears, doubts, pain, and suffering, I discovered, once again, that God can always be trusted. He keeps His promises even if we can hardly believe them during our darkest times. There were several times when we as a family thought that we would lose our daughter as her life was at stake. But God eventually saved her and pulled her close to His heart. I have been humbled by His wondrous ways of dealing with us little human beings again and I am thankful beyond measure!

Yesterday in the evening I really felt I wanted to write a new poem after almost four years of inspirational inactivity as to this very issue. Yet I was sooo tired (zzzzzzzzzzzz) and thus I took a ‘prayer nap’ instead. However, I felt a particular word reverberating in my mind. It was, “YOU…..YOU…..YOU…..” – “That would be a very short poem, my Lord, indeed!” I thought. 😉

It was only a few hours later as our daughter sent me a screenshot via WhatsApp. She told me that she felt ‘nudged’ to write a poem. Her first word was…. of course…. YOU. 🙂 Although the poem was written in German, I decided to translate it quickly, not yet sure whether to publish it or not. Today in the afternoon I suddenly felt inspired to keep writing a poem, surrounding hers, myself. If you are interested, here you are.

You, you, you! In 1955 a singing group called The Platters had a hit song called “Only You.” This song started going over and over in my mind and so I looked up the lyrics. Although they were written to be love song between a man and his woman, how wonderful they are when we see them between us and our Father and His Son.

      “Only You (And You Alone)”

Only you can make all this world seem right
Only you can make the darkness bright
      Only you and you alone
Can thrill me like you do
And fill my heart with love for only you

Only you can make all this change in me
For it’s true, you are my destiny
      When you hold my hand
I understand the magic that you do
      You’re my dream come true
      My one and only you

Only you can make all this change in me
For it’s true, you are my destiny
      When you hold my hand
I understand the magic that you do
      You’re my dream come true
      My one and only you

      One and only you

      Writer(s): Nina James, Dub Putnam

Only YOU, Father. By Christ abiding in us and we IN Him we are made ONE with you and all these lyrics fit in our lives; only You can make our world seem right, only You can shine your marvelous light into our darkened hearts and surround us with your light, only You can fill our hearts with love, and only You can can make all the needed changes in us by the work of your Son, Jesus Christ and His Spirit working within us. You have given us an eternal destiny worth living. Lord, we never even dreamed that our lives could be so transformed into what we have today and will continue to grow into for eternity… ever expanding and ever growing into the likeness of your Son.
      Amen.

        Michael,

I guess you are not too surprised that I always loved the song and its lyrics you pasted above. And, of course, I thought about the YOU being GOD myself before publishing this poem today.

STST – same time, same thought – as we often experienced till this day. Yet this time rather ATST – another time, but still the SAME THOUGHT. As our Lord and God lives outside our space and time, it is not important if something happens earlier or later. It is all the same to Him who is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Yes, interesting. I have always loved this song as well even in my youth when it first came out, though I never had a clew who in all of creation could fulfill its lyrics in my life. Being raised a Catholic, I was taught to see God as very indifferent when it comes to a relationship with us mere mortals. Until we have our eyes opened to see Him as the God of Love we tend to chase about looking for a human to fill this great need within us. But because of the fall of Adam we have all had this hole in our hearts that can only be filled by a love relationship with HIM, ONLY Him, “Only You”.

And so our Lord upon a “platter”
    Has revealed His heart
    So what’s the matter?
With in a song (or poem😉) find hidden treasure
Though the writer knew it not
By the Spirit brought to mind
Where with the treasure we would find
    HIM ❤️

Yes, Judi, In Luke we read,
“As he was drawing near—already on the way down the Mount of Olives— the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, saying, ‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!’ And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, ‘Teacher, rebuke your disciples.’ He answered, ‘I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.’ (Luke 19:37-40, ESV2011)

Even the very stones will cry out! Many a secular song comes closer to perfect praise to God than some hymns I have heard. It is amazing how God can inspire secular artists with the truth He wishes to be brought forth. I remember when Judy Collins’s version of “Amazing Grace went to the top 15 hits of the charts…

“Judy Collins’ recording of the hymn “Amazing Grace” on Elektra Records, released as a single for the Christmas season of 1970, peaked at number 15 in the Billboard Hot 100.In the U.K., it was even more successful, reaching number five initially and reentering the chart repeatedly, for a remarkable cumulative stay of 67 weeks among the British best-sellers.”

Many secular hits at that same time were singing about Jesus. Even the rock stars were…

Yes, the stone were crying out with a message about Jesus that went far beyond the voice of the churches. It was a special time of which I was part as a roadie for a Jesus country rock band. We saw thousands of young people come to Christ in what became know as “The Jesus Revolution.”
